Pricing Methodology
How we collect, normalize, and rank DJI prices — written so you can verify or reproduce every step.

Why methodology matters
Price-comparison data is only as trustworthy as the process that produced it. We document our methodology so readers, journalists, and Google’s E-E-A-T (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trust) evaluators can independently verify our claims.
1. Sources
- Primary: the official DJI regional online store (
store.dji.comand its country-specific subdomains, e.g.store.dji.com/de/,store.dji.com/jp/). - Currency conversion: live mid-market exchange rates from a reputable rates provider, refreshed hourly. We do not apply a markup.
- VAT / sales tax rates: reviewed against the relevant government tax authority (e.g. EU TIC, HMRC, IRS state tables, ATO, NRA) and updated when official changes are announced.
- Tourist tax-refund eligibility: based on each country’s published refund scheme. Refund percentages used reflect typical published recovery rates for non-resident visitors meeting all conditions; actual refunds depend on the operator (Global Blue, Premier Tax Free, Innova Taxfree, etc.) and your individual eligibility.
We do not use third-party marketplaces, grey-market sellers, resellers or unauthorized vendors. Listing accuracy depends on DJI publishing consistent SKUs across regions.
2. Collection
Prices are fetched on a regular cadence and stored in our content management system. When DJI updates a regional price, our pipeline picks up the change on the next refresh cycle. We do not modify, round or recalculate the listed retail price — we record what DJI publishes.
3. Normalization
- Tax-inclusive pricing. Where DJI publishes a tax-inclusive price (most of Europe, UK, Japan, etc.), we record it as published. Where DJI publishes a tax-exclusive price (most US states), we add the relevant state sales tax for an apples-to-apples comparison.
- Currency. Each product card stores the original local currency price. Conversions to your selected display currency use the most recent hourly mid-market rate.
- SKU matching. We match products across markets by official DJI SKU and product family. Where a market sells a regional variant (e.g. C-class drone certifications in the EU), we treat the local equivalent as the comparable SKU.
4. Total landed cost
Our market ranking uses total landed cost:
landed_cost = (local_price_with_tax) − (refund_amount_if_eligible)
refund_amount_if_eligible is zero unless the buyer is a non-resident eligible for that market’s tourist refund scheme. We clearly label refund-adjusted prices in the UI so domestic buyers can see both numbers.
5. What we don’t include
Our headline comparison does not include:
- Import duties or customs fees if you import a product into a different country than you purchased it in
- Shipping charges (these vary widely by country and order size)
- Time-limited promotions, bundles, education discounts, student discounts, or DJI Care Refresh add-ons (when not part of the base SKU)
- Insurance, warranty extensions or third-party service plans
- Currency-conversion or foreign-transaction fees from your bank
We surface promotions where reliably detectable, but treat the published non-promotional price as the canonical record.
6. Update cadence
- Currency rates: refreshed hourly
- Product prices: re-fetched on each scheduled build
- Tax rates and refund schemes: reviewed when official changes are announced
- Product catalog: updated as DJI launches or discontinues SKUs
7. Limitations and known issues
- DJI occasionally lists a product in a market without offering local shipping, or runs region-locked promotions we cannot detect. We mark such cases where we identify them.
- Drone regulations (registration, weight class certification, remote ID, import restrictions) vary by country. A cheaper price in another market does not necessarily mean the product is legal to operate in your home country. We strongly recommend verifying local regulations before purchase.
- Warranty terms are typically tied to the country of purchase. Buying abroad may limit your warranty support.
8. Corrections
We correct errors quickly. If you spot a wrong price, missing product, outdated tax rate or refund-scheme issue, please email [email protected] with the URL and the discrepancy. See our contact page for what to include.
9. Reproducibility
Anyone can reproduce our headline figures by visiting the relevant DJI regional store, applying the local published tax rate (if not already included) and converting at the mid-market rate at the same point in time. Where reasonable doubt exists, treat the official DJI store as the source of truth.
